Qualifications:

 Minimum Qualifications (resume should include education and employment experience that demonstrates the following):
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in education, social sciences, or another related field. Individuals enrolled in other programs with
experience in program/course evaluation using surveys will also be considered.
• Experience creating surveys in Qualtrics.
• Experience working with information in Excel.
• Ability to successfully perform detail-oriented work independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; prior experience communicating both in-person and via email in professional settings.

Preferred Qualifications (these are not required to be considered for this position, but would be helpful for this role):
• Knowledge and training in using statistical analysis software (SPSS preferred).
• Experience preparing reports/ summarizing evaluation data.
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Work with supervisor to meet deadlines and prioritize work tasks.
• Enthusiasm for learning new software and processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Individuals in this position will gain the following knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Effective communication skills with STEM students and professionals, both in-person and via email.
• Advanced knowledge and skills for building surveys, summarizing, data, and preparing reports of evaluation data in Qualtrics.
• Ability to work with data in SPSS and Excel, including merging datasets, cleaning data, and analyzing data using pivot tables and descriptive statistics.
• Experience working with human subjects data and recruiting human subjects for research studies.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Evaluation Intern will support the Director of Evaluation and Research in evaluating WISCIENCE programs as well as providing evaluation support to grant-funded initiatives relating to STEM education and research experiences in higher education. The person in this role will assist WISCIENCE evaluation efforts by building surveys and reports, contacting individuals within WISCIENCE, at UW-Madison, and other institutions by email, recruiting subjects, tracking and entering consent forms, maintaining and storing data, and assisting with the analysis of qualitative data. The successful candidate will be expected to commit to the position for at least 12 months and will complete and maintain IRB human subjects training throughout employment. This position will begin Spring 2025 and continue through Spring 2026 (including Summer 2025), with possibility of renewal. This position does not include tuition remission.

Reporting directly to the WISCIENCE Director of Evaluation and Research, this is an hourly position that will provide valuable hands-on experience in the field of STEM education program evaluation. If you like creating and improving surveys, are detail-oriented and have in interest in STEM education research and/or building skills and experience in program evaluation, this position may a good fit for you.
