Department Overview:
Bayview Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing and supportive services to residents living in Madison’s historic Triangle Neighborhood. In the middle of the neighborhood, Bayview operates a comprehensive community center that offers culturally relevant and responsive educational, social, recreational, and cultural programs and services to area residents in need. Programs and services aim to support residents in achieving their aspirations and helping families to thrive. After years of in-depth planning with residents and community leaders, Bayview is in its final year of a phased, three year plan to rebuild the 6.4 acre property. By early 2025, the new Bayview will feature 130 apartment and townhouse units, providing affordable, dignified housing for up to 500 residents. The campus also features a stunning new neighborhood center that serves the entire neighborhood with programming in the following areas: food access; youth development and education; adult education and skill advancement; social work and resource navigation; senior meals and wellness; art and cultural programs. Schedule:
The Elementary Program Leader is a 20 hours/week position. The schedule for this position is 12:45pm-4:15 pm on Mondays, and 2:15 pm-6:15 pm Tuesday-Thursday, and 1:00 pm-5:15 pm on Fridays. Pay rate starts at $17 per hr.

Qualifications:
- Computer Skills/Software: Extremely proficient Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint; Google applications like Gmail, Docs, Sheets, & Calendar - Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with program participants and information - Possession of valid driver’s license - Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Past professional experience working with school age children from diverse backgrounds - Skilled in supervising and facilitating lessons with children of various ages - Ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with children, families, and other staff - Ability to provide children with behavioral guidance and conflict resolution skills - First Aid/CPR certified or willing to learn - Understanding and appreciation of ethnically and culturally diverse populations Maturity, positivity, and creativity - Bilingual in Hmong and/or Spanish is a plus - Flexibility to work some extended hours - Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, and pass a criminal background check prior to hiring
Position Summary/Job Duties:
- Supervise children ages 6-11 enrolled in the afterschool program - Plan, facilitate and/or support a variety of activities, including arts, cooking, science, and sports - Provide tutoring and homework assistance - Develop and maintain positive relationships with all children - Implement positive behavior support strategies - Organize, clean, and set up space and supplies - Collaborate and communicate with program staff - Assist with meal and snack preparation and serving - Communicate with parents/caregivers and report on program activities and children’s participation - Direct and support volunteers and program partners
