Department Overview:
The Pelegri Lab is situated within the Department of Genetics. We study questions related to early developmental biology and conservation genetics, using zebrafish and related species as our model organisms. We are looking for students to help care for our fish and keep them happy so that we can do the best science possible!

Schedule:
Our shifts consist of half-hour to 2.5 hour shifts between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, depending on the fish that need care. Occasional weekend work will be required. Holidays are not required, but preference will begiven to candidates that are available to work on 12/24 and 12/25.

Qualifications:
No previous laboratory or animal care experience is needed, but past work experience of any kind is viewed favorably.

Attention to detail even when performing repetitive tasks, ability to work independently
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Job duties include feeding fish, conducting water quality tests, cleaning the fish facility, and exchanging water from tanks. Once fully trained, work duties will be carried out independently, so reliability and attention to detail are critical. This is not a research position. Applicants will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
Physical Demands:
The fish facility is climate-controlled for optimal fish health (warm and humid). Physically demanding tasks include standing and walking around the facility, cleaning (scrubbing tanks, mopping floors, etc), and lifting equipment up to 45 lbs.
