Department Overview:
Price and Taylor County 4-H are dedicated to the mission of 4-H which is to provide meaningful opportunities for all youth and adults to work together to create sustainable community change. This is accomplished within three primary content areas, or mission areas – civic engagement and leadership, healthy living, and science.

Schedule:
Approximately 40 hours per week divided evenly between the two counties which includes some evenings and weekends. Flexible hours upon request as needed.

Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older. Individuals 21 years of age or older preferred. Employment will require a criminal background check Student must be enrolled for credit at an educational institution. Student will need to show proof of enrollment before starting.

Ability to work well with adult volunteers and youth. Ability to creatively and flexibly solve problems as they arise. Ability to be self-directed and self-motivated. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Evidence of effective leadership skills in school or community organizations. Experience in youth related outreach education preferred. Strong commitment to UWEX mission & 4-H youth development principles and practices. Experience with Microsoft Office and Google computer software.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Assist in the supervision and delivery of 4-H overnight camping programs. Contribute and deliver programs as a member of the “4-H team”. This team consists of support staff, 4-H Program Educator and 4-H Volunteer Leaders. Help promote 4-H through a variety of avenues - social media, print media, radio, newsletters, etc. Provide training and coordination for overnight and day camp counselors. Prepare media releases related to UW-Extension program events/activities. Be present at the Taylor County Fair and provide assistance and leadership to youth judging and scheduled events as needed. Assist in the communication with and coordination of 4-H activities in the UW-Extension office. Assist in UW-Extension additional short term programming as opportunities arise. Prepare materials and make connections to promote 4-H throughout the county for the upcoming 4-H year. Develop an activities summary at the conclusion of the summer that records participation and outcome evaluation
Physical Demands:
Position includes both sedentary computer work and physically active (including outdoors) work.
