Department Overview:
As part of University Health Services (UHS), the UHS Alcohol and other Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery team provides services designed to increase the capacity of the entire UW-Madison community to address high-risk alcohol use, drug use/misuse, and recovery. The Nicotine-Free Student Ambassador will support initiatives to change systems and influence the environment to create a healthier UW-Madison community as we advocate to become a tobacco- and vape-free campus.

Schedule:
50% of weekly hours must take place during the business hours of 8:30-5:00, Monday-Friday, with up to 50% of hours occurring during evenings and weekends. The employee will set their own schedule and will help plan events around times they are available to work.

Job Qualifications and Skills: • Ability to work in a remote and in person environment • Currently enrolled as a student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Be available to work through June 30, 2025 Please note the existence of a conviction is not an automatic exclusion from employment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Job Qualifications and Skills: • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and editing • Experience or knowledge of tobacco, nicotine or policy work • Excellent project management and time management skills • Detail oriented and excellent logistic skills • Experience in a leadership position • Knowledge of and experience with social media and/or web development • Knowledge, understanding, and commitment to principles of student development and health equity
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Description of Job Duties: • Plan, host, and staff events across campus to promote nicotine-free policy work. • Engage with students and student leaders across campus to communicate policy, hear concerns, and provide resources. • Assist in the development of materials for social and print media. • Distribute nicotine quit kits on campus. • Co-facilitate town hall to gain student perspectives on policy reform. • Conduct research/benchmark as needed to learn from other campuses similar to ours. • Take part in and support UHS activities as needed. • Work with other UHS Prevention staff on student health initiatives as requested.
Physical Demands:
Student may carry a small amount of material around campus and we also provide cart for transportation.
