Department Overview:
The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of the UW-Madison campus in support of the university's education, research, and outreach activities. The Grounds Department organizes, coordinates and performs activities that support campus landscaping, gardening, and grounds maintenance, including string trimming, mowing, and mulching.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Grounds Department at UW-Madison is looking for independent and self-motivated student employees to help enhance the campus's beauty through landscaping, gardening, and grounds maintenance. During the winter season, primary responsibilities include Greenhouse propagation, sowing seeds, planting plugs, repotting plants, propagating from cuttings, and assisting with watering and transporting materials. Students may also be assigned outdoor maintenance tasks such as snow removal, as needed. Additional seasonal duties may involve managing weed growth in landscaped areas, watering plants, mulching, cleaning up debris, string trimming, and mowing.
Physical Demands:
Ability to work on-site. Standing/walking for 6 to 7 hour periods. Lifting up to 25 pounds.
