Department Overview:

The People’s Farm for Sustainable Agriculture strives to educate the UW community about the relationship between people, land, and food. Through our garden workshops, educational events, and outreach programming, we aim to bring critical awareness about food systems, land use, and sustainability issues at UW.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled as a student at UW-Madison.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Discuss with outgoing board member(s).
Try to be as accessible as possible.
No prior experience is necessary.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Promote The People’s Farm programs and events
Maintain Website and social media presence
Design Materials supporting programs and events, both promotional and otherwise
flyers, posters, and other promotional material
program support material, including information about the program or other People’s Farm initiatives
apparel and branded merchandise
Maintain brand cohesion across all People’s Farm communications
maintain and enforce brand style guide
ensure content and tone of communications are consistent
Develop and implement a long-term outreach strategy
Increase Engagement
Expand audiences
Improve communication effectiveness
Connect and develop relationships with other orgs
Communicate with the board consistently and effectively
Attend weekly board meetings
Complete agenda section before each meeting, preferably 24hrs in advance
Participate in Harvest Handouts
Promote events & programs during Handouts
Assist with setup and teardown
Support other Director positions as requested
Assist with programming
Volunteer in farm
Volunteer on rooftop
Support Budget eligibility and defense
Support outreach initiatives
Participate in running “key events”
Farm Fest
Harvest Fest
Spring/Fall Kickoff
Community Forum
When we have an office in the SAC: Attend weekly office hours (minimum determined annually, currently 4/week)
Weekly meeting with work partner
Attend Tri-Annual Mission and Vision Sessions
Re-evaluate bylaws
Re-evaluate position descriptions & requirements
Participate in tri-annual peer evaluations
Record keeping of your tenure on the board
