Qualifications:

• Must be currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program at UW-Madison.
• Previous teaching, facilitating, and/or presenting experience preferred.
• Knowledge of college student development and previous experience working with business undergraduates preferred.
• Expertise in academic and career exploration, career development, leadership development, and diversity/inclusion a plus.

• Willingness and ability to provide both positive and constructive, honest feedback to course facilitators and students enrolled in the course
• Strong listening skills and ability to ask open-ended coaching/probing questions to stimulate classroom discussion and to encourage student facilitators’ growth and development
• Facilitation, teaching, and public speaking skills
• Ability to assess students’ work and provide fair judgements and constructive feedback when grading; willingness to grade according to provided rubrics to ensure grading consistency
• Ability to enforce policies fairly and consistently and provide effective classroom management
• Ability to navigate sensitive and confidential conversations and information
• Commitment to PPFB and WSB Undergraduate Program goals and learning outcomes

Position Summary/Job Duties:

General Business 110: Personal and Professional Foundations in Business (PPFB) is a one-credit introductory personal and professional development course for newly admitted BBA students. The course provides an introduction to Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) and undergraduate program resources and covers self-assessment and awareness, academic/career exploration and development, leadership skills development, and diversity and inclusion. PPFB Instructors serve as a resource, mentor and guide to student facilitators who are concurrently leading the one-credit PPFB course sections. They also facilitate course curriculum, oversee course grading and meet weekly with teaching clusters.

• Facilitate PPFB course curriculum in an engaging way, consistent with course learning outcomes and the provided lesson plans.
• Provide honest positive and constructive feedback to student facilitators in order to help them learn and develop their leadership, presentation, facilitation, and classroom management skills.
• Provide regular updates to Leadership & Engagement staff regarding facilitator performance and feedback that has been provided.
• Meet with facilitators outside of class throughout the semester to provide feedback, debrief execution of course lesson plans, and plan for upcoming course meetings.
• Enable class list serv, pull photo roster of registered students and send to facilitators before the first class meeting (instructions will be provided).
• Oversee all grading for the course, including final reflection/group project. Work with student life staff to address student questions and concerns about their grades.
• Enter final course grades into campus records system by the campus submission deadline. Leadership & Engagement staff will compile and finalize the grades prior to entry and provide instructions for entering into the system.
• Refer facilitators to Leadership & Engagement staff for logistical questions or concerns that require intervention by WSB Undergraduate Program administration.
• Serve as a resource person for questions or concerns about the course.
• Oversee communication sent by student facilitators to enrolled students.
• Refer serious student or facilitator issues to campus resources, such as UHS, and appropriate WSB Undergraduate Program Leadership & Engagement contact person and/or Director of WSB Undergraduate Program Leadership & Engagement, as necessary.
• Participate in Instructor Orientation in mid-late August and in instructor/facilitator meet and greet session during student facilitator training the last week of August.
• Participate in any additional instructor meetings throughout the semester.
• Complete two curricular development activities: Provide supplemental reading for all staff to share with students, observe a fellow instructor, and/or guest lecture in Gen Bus 112.
