Department Overview:

The Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) serves over 1,300 students as they move from eighth grade to college graduation, offering innovative programming to support career exploration and self-management skills while building knowledge through experiential learning. 
Our programming is offered in three distinct units: Madison Precollege, Milwaukee Precollege, and The College Success Center. During the academic year, our precollege team advises Wisconsin students in Madison and Milwaukee public high schools, creating new pathways to higher education for low-income, potential first-generation families. 
During the summer, our precollege team hosts our students in a robust residential program on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, offering students an opportunity to experience college life and build community in their cohorts, fully supported by our dedicated staff.  Our precollege students who gain admission into UW-Madison become college scholars.
Our college team offers one-on-one high-touch advising services, unique programming created specifically for our student population, and other high impact practices to foster student success. We seek passionate individuals who want to support our energetic precollege and college teams to continue our success as UW-Madison’s leading college access program.

Schedule:

This position is available 7 days a week and will consist mostly of afternoon and evening hours. A detailed schedule will be provided during your training.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $15.00 Maximum: $15.00

Qualifications:

-Most be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student and in good standing for Summer or Fall 2025 classes OR May 2025 graduate.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software
-Highly organized and energized
-Must be available to work late evening shifts and weekends
-Have knowledge of event planning and implementation (preferred)
-Wisconsin Driver's License (or other states) for at least 3 years (preferred).
-Bilingual preferred (Spanish, Hmong, Mandarin), but not required.
-Satisfy a criminal background check, successfully complete I-9 verification, and complete compliance training before starting position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

-Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and have strong organizational skills
-Committed to working with a diverse student and staff population
-Ability to use good judgement in decision-making.
-Knowledge of event preparation, implementation, and facilitation (preferred).
-Possess the ability to take initiative and work independently on projects.
-Have a positive and helpful attitude, able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

- Contact program partners to solidify event details
- Updating and maintaining multiple spreadsheets
- Filing paperwork and organizing supplies
- Creating various documents and flyers
- Facilitating events with high school students
- Completing other tasks as assigned

Physical Demands:

This position will require some driving of University Fleet vans, walking and standing as well as moving boxes of activities supplies (less than 10 pds).
