Schedule:
Applicant should have 2+ hour blocks of time available before 6pm on weekdays during the semester, at least 2 days days per week. Hours will be flexible based on your class schedules, but larger blocks of time are ideal for planning and executing experiments. Summer employment will be up to 30 hours per week.

Qualifications:
Applicant must be enrolled full time at the UW. Freshmen or sophomore with interest in working 3 years including summers and breaks will be given preference.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Required: Strong science background. Computational background or the desire to learn computational skills. Desired: Interest or knowledge of viruses, specifically Epstein Barr Virus. Interest or knowledge of cancer biology. A desire to pursue research driven careers or post-baccalaureate education.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
An undergraduate research assistant will work with graduate and senior lab staff in maintenance of cell culture lines, honing basic molecular biology techniques such as cloning, and contribute to the lab community in a positive way. Students will be expected to participate in lab chores which will be divided and assigned among lab members. A successful undergraduate research assistant will gradually move to have ownership over a project and will begin developing independence in the lab.
Physical Demands:
The ability to stand or sit for long periods of time while performing lab work. Most lab work can be performed sitting or standing based on ability.
