Department Overview:
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Events & Promotional Marketing Office is seeking candidates for Marketing Assistants for the 2025-2026 academic year. This internship will have a variety of responsibilities within the office and gamedays and may be assigned the day-to-day marketing/promotions management of varsity sports including men’s soccer, women’s soccer, and/or softball. The candidate profile and key responsibilities of this role are outlined below.

Schedule:
The interns will work approximately 20+ hours per week (mostly in normal business hours, but some may be on nights/weekends). Some weeks may require additional hours. They are also required to work football gamedays.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Athletic Marketing Assistant will assist the UW Athletic Events & Promotional Marketing staff with the following duties: • Research, develop and execute marketing/promotion/engagement plans designed to meet established goals for assigned sport(s) • Serve as a intern on Football marketing/promotion/engagement efforts • Work hand-in-hand with ticket office, event/facilities, brand communications, video services, coaching staff(s) and other support units to execute marketing initiatives • Provide support in managing social, digital and email-based communication efforts • Collaboratively develop videoboard content; write PA and videoboard scripts for assigned sports • Serve as the “gameday producer” for assigned sports (direct music, videoboard fulfillment when applicable, and other entertainment elements) • Develop job assignments and manage marketing staff on event day • Manage and execute all special non-gameday events • Assist in managing the assigned sport’s marketing budget (premium items, etc.) • Responsible for ordering all premium items as necessary (vendor selection, pricing, artwork development, final production, etc.) • Participate in Brand Management and weekly marketing staff meetings • Maintain sport page on website (web ads, promotions page, etc.) • Manage marketing efforts for home and/or away post-season competitions, when needed • Assist in planning/executing community outreach events in spring, summer and fall • Other summer/fall/winter duties as assigned • All interns within the program are required to work football gamedays • Program includes monthly professional development events • Events occur throughout the academic year, including academic breaks and holidays • Option to reapply for summer 2026 and the 2026-27 academic year
