Department Overview:

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison’s public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.

As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Reliable transportation to work sites across Madison (paid mileage reimbursement).
Knowledge about a variety of disability areas and common support strategies.
Competent oral and written/email communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and recreation or educational program planning knowledge.
Ability to collaborate effectively to support challenging situations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Proven dependability, teamwork, leadership skills and enthusiasm.
Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification or willingness to be trained.
CPR and First Aid certification.
Experience assessing for and developing support plans for individuals with disabilities.
General computer knowledge of Excel and Google applications.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Inclusion Services Field Supervisor works collaboratively with the Inclusion Services Specialist to assist with the direct support of youth and adults with disabilities in inclusive programs and recreational activities. Field Supervisors will help site staff creatively brainstorm reactive and proactive support strategies for participants to be actively engaged. This includes traveling between multiple summer camp locations across the city of Madison to coach staff, respond to needs, and monitor participant accommodations and supports.

Supervise, coach and train Recreation Inclusion Staff.
Coach camp and SREC Site Directors, Assistant Directors and Program Leaders on ADA reasonable accommodations and adaptations to better support participants.
Support site staff in problem-solving around specific behaviors or support needs.
Assess participant support needs and create and implement inclusion plans of support.
Read and interpret Individual Education Plans for camp and SREC staff.
Create and distribute support tools, such as visual aides, fidgets, alternate seating, and other materials.
Provide direct support to participants.
Other duties as specified by the supervisor.

No camp Friday, July 4

Work Location: Must travel to program locations across the city of Madison.
