Department Overview:
The Physics Student shop is in room 1249 of the lower 1st floor of Chamberlain Hall. It is equipped with 2 lathes, 3 manual mills, 2 drill presses, bandsaws, brake, small shear, sheet metal roller and various hand tools. This is a safe space where students can come in and acquire the training on the equipment needed for them to do some simple fabrication work themselves.

Schedule:
Hours are negotiable. 10-12 hrs/week. Ideally, I would like interested applicants to cover afternoon and evening hours, but can be flexible due to student users schedules.

Qualifications:
Looking for undergraduate students interested in learning the intricacies of working in the machine. Then eventually helping other students with training and projects for those students. Must be attentive, courteous and dependable. Anyone interested is encouraged to apply!
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
No experience necessary. We will provide you on the job training to acquire the skills needed to be successful in this position.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
You will be trained on how to safely use all equipment in the student shop using a variety of the most common materials that students use for their projects, such as steel, aluminum, copper, etc. Be able to take what you have learned and apply that to the training of student users. Must be comfortable in addressing all safety protocols as well as technical protocols with student users in the shop.
Physical Demands:
Occasionally lifting up to 15 lbs. at times and the ability to be on your feet the majority of your shift.
