Schedule:
Work schedule is determined in conjunction with the supervisor, AT team, and the student’s class schedule during the Center’s business hours (8:00am-4:30pm, Monday to Friday). Work scheduling expectations: 1. Minimum average of 10-12 hours per week over the semester. Preferred 15+ hours at the beginning of the semesters then hours can be reduced to 10 hours during mid-terms and finals. 2. Available to work winter and summer breaks or return to work two week before a semester begins. 3. Work at least 2 hour block of time during a shift

Qualifications:
Two-year minimum availability (e.g. through May 2027) is preferred for this position, along with the availability to work during the summer and in January during winter breaks. While these positions work with a lot of technology, a blend of strong interpersonal, communication, writing/editing, and organization skills are crucial because these positions regularly communicate with faculty/staff/students/vendors/IT and work with classroom materials. Qualifications include: 1. Current UW-Madison undergraduate or graduate student status. 2. Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA (on a scale of 4). 3. Computer experience including e-mail, word processing, internet searching, and database use. 4. Familiarity with campus and campus resources preferred. 5. Experience across Windows, Mac, and mobile devices. 6. Experience with scanning software/hardware is a plus. 7. Experience with audio/video software/hardware is a plus. 8. Experience working with people with disabilities is a plus. 9. Experience with databases, computer programming, and/or script writing is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
We are looking for creative students with versatile communication, task management, editing, and technology skills. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply. These positions do not require extensive experience in adaptive technology but do rely on the ability to quickly learn about unfamiliar technologies, problem-solve, adapt, and apply appropriate technology skills/standards. Training on the unique technology and software we use is provided. Skills and Abilities: 1. Excellent time management and organization skills. 2. Excellent communication skills, both person-to-person and written. 3. Customer service and quality driven. 4. Constant attention to accuracy and detail. 5. Strong proofreading and editing skills. 6. Strong problem-solving abilities. 7. Strong keyboarding skills.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
This position will within Adaptive Technology (AT) but will be cross-trained in aspects of the other areas of AT. The primary areas include: * Alternative Formats – Converting print materials to accessible formats for students with print-related disabilities * Furniture accommodations – Providing alternative tables and chairs to the standard furniture for students with mobility and health disabilities * Notetaking accommodations - Supporting students, instructors, and notetakers along with troubleshooting technology for peer notetaking, smartpen, and notetaking apps. * Other Tech and AT Support - Supporting various other services and technology needs within AT and the McBurney Center.
