Department Overview:
The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental, and occupational health laboratory for the state of Wisconsin, and is part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The employee in this position will work with a team of inorganic chemists. Duties include preparation of samples for analysis. Receipt, organization and disposal of samples. Assisting with the setup of nutrient digestions.

Schedule:
Schedule: -April – September 3, 2025: 40 hours per week -Generally between 7:45 am – 4:30 pm; e.g. Monday –Friday Lab Location: 2601 Agriculture Drive, Madison, Wisconsin (off campus, southeast Madison)

1. Enrolled university student for Summer and/or Fall 2025 semester 2. Reliable transportation 3. An interest or previous training in science and/or biology
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
1. Attention to detail 2. Excellent communication skills 3. Ability to work independently after training
Position Summary/Job Duties:
-Sample preparation -Reagent preparation -Sample receipt, organization and disposal of samples -Set up nutrient digestions Total Phosphorus, TKN, Total Nitrogen -Stocking of supplies -Special projects as needed
Physical Demands:
Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds
