Qualifications:

No prior lab experience is necessary.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

We are looking for students who have consistent schedules, can work in a team, and are diligent in their work. Part of the lab’s mission is to train young scientists and preference will be given to applicants with interests in fields such as biology, ecology, agriculture, GIS, remote sensing, and engineering.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Current projects in the lab include detecting disease in potatoes, mapping biodiversity in prairies, and making measurements on plant material from around the globe. Students can learn a variety of skills including:
- How ecological field research is conducted
- How scientific data is recorded and managed
- The use of scientific instruments such as spectrometers

Physical Demands:

Fieldwork duties will include work outdoors during the summer and the ability to carry some equipment (20 lbs). You may be exposed to pollen and dust.
