Department Overview:

Transportation Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of all transportation-related services for the UW campus community.

5/12/2025 or after (must be avail 8/18-9/12)

Most positions will end 9/13, some may remain all year

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

Minimum: 4 Maximum: 40 in summer, 29 during semester

Schedule:

Must be available to work a minimum of 4 hours per week (ideally more) for the entire period Aug 18-Sept 13. Work May 12-Aug 15 is optional. Limited number of people will be kept on after Sept 13.

Students will set a weekly work schedule with supervisor using the When to Work software. Work shifts will be a minimum of 2 hours in length, but preferably 4 hrs. Available hours 4-40 hrs/wk through Aug 29 and 4-29 hrs/wk Sept and beyond with shifts scheduled M-F between 8am and 6pm. After Sept 13th a subset of employees may continue work on a negotiated schedule.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: $14.50 Maximum: $16.50

(50 cent raises at 150, 300, 600, 1040 total work hrs)

Qualifications:

Must be eligible to accept a UW Madison student work position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must be able to work independently and have good attention to detail. Must be able to use email and follow instructions for using point of sales software. Should have a positive and friendly customer service focused attitude.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Tasks will be divided among available workers and will include one or more of the following:

1) May 12-Aug 15, collecting bicycle parking and campus bus ridership data across campus outside on cell phones and tabling summer campus events including SOAR at Union South to provide transportation information.

2) July 1-Aug 15, assisting with parking product sales fulfillment tasks including matching inventory numbers, stuffing envelopes, and doing data entry at the WARF building at 610 Walnut St.

3) Aug 18-Sept 13, staffing bus pass bulk distribution sites at the southeast and lakeshore residence halls including greeting customers and issuing passes using a laptop.

4) After Sept 13, a subset of workers with an interest and aptitude may be retained to work throughout the year to assist with these or other tasks.

Physical Demands:

Some tasks will require walking around outside. Some tasks will require sitting at a computer indoors.
