Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or other content related field 2 years of teaching experience with K-12 students preferred. Student teaching experience will be considered. Demonstrated ability to engage middle school/high school students in a variety of settings and circumstances. Energetic approach to learning Strong communication skills and ability to work well with students, administration, and support staff Experience meeting the needs of all students Respect for individual differences and individuality
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
- Experience working with high school and middle school students - Experience teaching and/or subbing content area subjects - Experience assisting and supporting teachers and support staff
Position Summary/Job Duties:
This Academic Program Facilitator supports the following Precollege programs in the Division of Continuing Studies (DCS): Summer Transitional Enrichment Program, Acceleration Learning Program, Wisconsin International Precollege Academy, Badger Summer Scholars Each program runs 8-12 academic courses per session with 12-16 students per class. The primary duties of this role are to serve as administrative support and instructional support. This role will circulate among various classes, support classroom management, and help provide communication between instructors, Educational Coordinator, and the Program Manager. The role will also support day-to-day functions of the program which could include supporting educational assistants, subbing for instructors, walking students to locations on campus, delivering supplies to classrooms, and other duties as assigned. Opportunities to provide some instructional coaching may also be possible. Tasks: This position is responsible for Support of academic processes, instruction, and logistical aspects across 7 weeks of precollege programs Classroom visits, observation of instructional process Monitoring and analyzing discipline concern report - provide daily reports/recommendations to residential and admin staff Supporting student workbook systems for tracking academic progress Supporting discipline and classroom management with students Assisting in the facilitation of field trips and guest speakers for classes Supporting administrative tasks to aid transition between programs Serving as a substitute instructor should the need arise Supporting the preparation of staff orientation before the program begins Driving UW fleet vehicles to assist program needs Completing all hiring requirements and trainings required by Human Resources at the UW-Madison Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
This role will walk with their assigned group all over campus in all weather conditions.
