Department Overview:
The highly ranked School of Education (SoE) is home to 3,000 students pursuing degrees in the Arts, Education and Health fields. The Career Center strives to provide all students with access to meaningful career readiness education and connections to mentorship, high impact experiences, and work opportunities. Schedule:
10-12 hours per week Flexible with student schedule Employment dates are when UW-Madison is in session during the Fall and Spring semesters. Work during campus breaks can be discussed as needed.

Qualifications:
Enrolled in a School of Education graduate program during the 2024-2025 academic year.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
The ability to communicate with diverse audiences in a professional manner (verbal and written). Ability to work professionally and effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds. Attention to detail. The ability to advise students on career development topics through participation in a career-related experience (internship, job shadow, practicum, career course, research fellowship, etc). Has navigated through some career exploration and/or preparation. Ability to learn or engage with various technology used by the Career Center (examples include Canva, Canvas, Handshake, Big Interview)
Position Summary/Job Duties:
85%: Career Education and Advising which includes: -40 % –Advise graduate student population in 1-1 career advising appointments related to the following topics: cover letters, resumes and CVs, interview preparation and mock interviews, and the job search process -40%--Lead career center projects that focus on the development of graduate student-focused tools and resources. Possible examples include: benchmarking, developing website tools and resources, data projects, and canvas courses -5% Deliver presentations collaboratively or independently on requested topics from graduate classes or student organizations 10%: Engage in individual professional development based on personal interest and provide ongoing feedback to the Career Center staff 5%: Other duties as assigned Note: This position does not carry tuition remission or cover benefits
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit for long periods, ability to speak English, ability to use a computer, ability to occasionally lift weight of up to 15 pounds, ability to see/hear with or without assistive tools.
