Department Overview:
The Pancreas Cancer Task Force is a unique partnership between community stakeholders and cancer professionals. The Carbone Cancer Center volunteer Task Force consists of patients, community leaders, family members, and caregivers who have been personally affected by pancreas cancer. The Task Force works together in close concert with University of Wisconsin physicians, researchers, clinical staff, and administrators to better the odds for pancreas cancer patients. In addition to building public awareness, providing educational opportunities focused on pancreas cancer and offering patient-centered projects aimed at providing a better quality of life, the Task Force’s primary goal is raising funds for pancreas cancer research at the University of Wisconsin.

Qualifications:
H.S. Diploma With 1 year of relevant experience • Current student enrolled in a program related to marketing, communications, journalism, public health, or a related field • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills • Demonstrates reliability and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
• Background or coursework in journalism, public health, communications, or marketing • Experience using Canva and Adobe Premiere (or similar editing software) • Experience with Microsoft Office platforms • Photography and videography skills • Visual storytelling and content creation experience for social media platforms • Ability to demonstrate empathy and compassion when engaging with vulnerable communities
Position Summary/Job Duties:
General Program Support: • Assist with planning and execution of PCTF programs, events, and outreach activities. • Support the administration of ongoing projects and daily tasks. • Help prepare outreach materials for events, communications, and social media. • Assist with coordinating volunteer Task Force and maintaining organizational documents. Event Planning and Community Engagement: • Help plan and prepare for annual and community events. • Attend and support community tabling events. • Contribute ideas to enhance visibility and impact of events and outreach. Fundraising and Sponsorship: • Take a lead role in coordinating a fundraising sponsorship committee. • Assist with sponsor outreach, follow-ups, schedule and host committee meetings, and maintain organized records. Outreach and Communication: • Build and maintain relationships with both UW departments and local community partners. • Contribute to community engagement efforts and help expand awareness of pancreas cancer and PCTF initiatives. Social Media: • Assist in the creation and scheduling of digital content for PCTF’s social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter). • Help develop visuals, stories, educational posts, and promotional materials to support events and campaigns. • Monitor engagement and support digital outreach strategy. Collaboration and Meetings: • Attend weekly meetings with the PCTF Program Manager to plan and report on current and upcoming activities. • Work collaboratively with team members, community partners, and volunteers.
