Department Overview:

Within the School of Medicine and Public Health, the Glukhov Lab is part of the Cellular and Molecular Arrhythmia Research Program (CMARP), which is a multi-investigator laboratory involved in a wide range of research projects exploring the molecular function of ion channels in cardiac physiology, pharmacology, and disease.

Schedule:

Flexible schedule with approximately 8-12 hours per week, ideally split across 2-3 consecutive sessions (e.g Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). This is an ideal role for students seeking a hands-on research opportunity alongside their academic commitments.

Qualifications:

Current UW-Madison undergraduate student. Freshman or Sophomore preferred.
Interest in learning new skills such as molecular and cell biology techniques including RT-PCR, Western Blot, and tissue staining, and their associated analyses. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Comfortable handling dissected animal tissues.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Basic understanding of biological and experimental procedures.
Ability to accurately record and organize data.
Willingness to learn and practice new skills.
Good communication skills and teamwork orientation.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s).
Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area.
Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials.

Physical Demands:

Ability to perform tasks that require repetitive motion, such as pipetting and extended sitting times.

Ability to lift and move experimental supplies (up to 30 pounds).
