Department Overview:

The WISc Program seeks an undergraduate student for the Program Assistant position to provide administrative support to the program, including communications and digital media development, event support, and recruitment outreach support. In this role, the student will be working primarily with Melody Niwot, the WISc Associate Director, to support multiple administrative and communications-related objectives.

Schedule:

Student should be available on Tuesdays from 4:30-8:00pm. Other dates and times are negotiable depending on student class schedule.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will:
• Be enrolled as an undergraduate student at UW-Madison
• Be able to work select evenings as needed
• Preference given to students with past study abroad experience and/or language learning either at UW-Madison or otherwise

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively represent the program to both internal and external stakeholders
• Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrate the ability to work both collaboratively and independently and to be self-motivated

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The position is responsible for the following:

• Collaborate with WISc faculty and staff for the implementation of programming. Develop, write, and edit student and event features and newsletters for publication on the program’s website and digital media platforms
• Collaborate with WISc program staff to maintain an updated and relevant program website
• Contribute to the development of weekly campus and program communications
• Assist with logistical details for events to ensure programming runs smoothly, including room set-up and break-down, AV support, and other tasks as indicated
• Assist with recruitment management and communication including responding to general inquiries about the program, directing interested applicants to relevant resources, and helping to facilitate prospective applicant information sessions.
