Cross-College Advising Service (CCAS) is the leading campus resource for UW-Madison students looking to explore majors and careers. Our professional academic advisors are knowledgeable about all the majors and programs offered on campus. We work with students, to identify strengths, interests, and values, and help align those with courses, certificates, majors, and co-curricular experiences.

Schedule:

Anticipated start date is January 2026. The communications intern will work approximately 4-8 hours/week, with flexibility to accommodate for schedule changes across spring semester.

General hours will be Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm. Preference will be given to students who have longer periods of availability (e.g. 10am-3pm CST, etc). Work Study welcome, but not required.

The Communications Intern will work at CCAS (Ingraham Hall) alongside the Communications Director. Some remote work may be possible as determined by the supervisor after a period of training and based on performance.

Qualifications:

- Current UW-Madison student
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, including capacity to work effectively with a diverse range of staff and students engaging with the office
- Interest in communications, graphic design, social media, website management, email marketing and analytics, and learning how to create communications campaigns
- Detail-oriented & creative, with the ability to work both independently & collaboratively, and proactively clarify expectations as needed
- Enjoy working independently and as part of a team

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Some experience in communications (website management, email analytics, graphic design (Canva), social media) is preferred but not required! Training will also be provided.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The primary duties of this internship include developing new office social media and managing office communication campaigns, including writing/collecting engaging content, analyzing performance metrics, and contributing to the overall growth of our online communities.

Other responsibilities include designing communications materials (e.g. flyers, website and social media content, digital message boards, etc.) related to advising, programming, and other events.

Job Duties
- Work with the Communications Director to design marketing materials, develop an online social media presence for CCAS, track email and social analytics, brainstorm and draft possible email campaigns.
- Assist unit staff with projects on an as-needed basis
- Be open to learning a lot, enhance your professional skills, and build your UW-Madison network!
