Department Overview:

The Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) works to provide scholars with hands-on experiences in the areas of internships, study abroad, and undergraduate research that grow networks, foster well-rounded educational experiences, and build impressive resumes. Preferred between M-F, 8:30am-4:30pm, some evening availability may be requested. Details to be discussed with your supervisor.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled student at UW-Madison ins good academic standing. Must be able to work in-person in the OEL office located in Ingraham Hall. This position requires a reliable individual with an inquisitive and collaborative mindset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Students with the any/all following skills or experiences are highly encouraged to apply:

Administrative support, event coordination, marketing or social media experience, ability to multitask, excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, small project management experience, MS Office suite experience, creative visioning, Canva or CanvaPro experience, WiscWeb experience, and/or Eloqua experience.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The OEL Public Relations Intern supports the administrative, programming, and communicative work essential to promote the Office of Experiential Learning’s mission. This role will require the student intern to work in collaboration with the OEL team to plan workshops, create newsletters for students at UW-Madison, and ensure information is disseminated to students, staff and campus partners effectively and creatively. The role provides professional development experience for students interested in higher education programming, event coordination, digital marketing and/or effective communications while contributing to a welcoming and supportive student services environment. The OEL Public Relations Intern can expect to do the following:

-Provide administrative support for the Office of Experiential Learning events, workshops, and student services.

-Creatively engage students and community members through dynamic social media posts, email announcements, graphic design, flyers, and newsletters via Eloqua.

-Update and edit the OEL website via WiscWeb.

-Assist in coordinating and promoting programming, including orientations, workshops, and community building events hosted by OEL.

-Responsible for monthly/quarterly themed informational bulletin board (student facing) located within the common area of the OEL Office.

-Assist the OEL Internship Program Coordinator in hiring cycles, estimated 1-2 times per academic year with scoring, interviewing, and interview preparation.

-Greet and assist students, staff, and visitors; serve as a point of contact for questions about OEL services.

-Document event attendance and monitor engagement with marketing, social media, and website usage.
