Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, English, Theater Arts, or other content related field - 2 years of teaching experience with K-12 students preferred. Student teaching experience will be considered. - Graduate level coursework, completed or in progress, is preferred. - Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging content to middle school students is preferred. - Energetic approach to learning - Strong communication skills and ability to work well with students, administration, and support staff - Experience meeting the needs of all students - Respect for individual differences and individuality.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Instructor for the Forensic Science courses for the Badger Precollege STEP Program. Dates run June 14-26th, 2026. The instructor for this course will be tasked with planning and teaching a one-week course for students in grades 6-8. Instructors can expect to work with a class size of up to 16 students. Course description listed below: Do you like a good mystery? Are you always the first to figure out who did it and how they did it when you watch a movie or read a book? Here is your chance to become part of a team of forensic investigators. You will collect and analyze evidence from crime scenes, and use logical thought processes and scientific inquiry skills to interpret evidence and explain crimes. This is a laboratory-based course with class lab work, demonstrations, research, reading and class discussion. You will learn to interpret physical and biological evidence, such as fingerprinting, hair and fiber analysis, impression analysis, blood and DNA analysis, forensic entomology and anthropology. You will evaluate your comprehension and progress, apply your evidence analysis knowledge and work collaboratively to solve major crimes. Instructors are responsible for: - Planning an engaging course with activities and lessons designed to provide high quality and fast-paced learning for advanced middle school students - Meeting in spring with Badger Precollege administrators to develop curriculum - Completing all hiring requirements and trainings required by Human Resources at UW Madison - Participating in staff orientation before the program begins - Attending virtual instructor check in meetings scheduled throughout the program. - Completing post program student evaluation materials. - Instructors can expect to teach eager, curious students with a strong interest in the subject matter.
