Department Overview:
Our mission at the Office of Student Transition & Family Engagement (OSTFE) is to support students as they navigate their first year at UW–Madison. We work to understand the first-year experience and serve as the campus resource on student transitions. Our team helps students build the foundation for their Wisconsin Experience through self-reflection, active learning, and intentional engagement inside and outside the classroom. We do this through inclusive programming, ongoing services, clear communication, and strong collaboration with faculty, staff, and campus partners. Schedule:
This role runs from September–December 2026, with a short spring training session (about 2 hours) and optional summer development opportunities. Fellows typically spend 5–7 hours per week on responsibilities such as training, weekly meetings, lesson planning, co‑facilitating CP125, reviewing student work, and holding office hours in OSTFE. Regular Time Commitments during Fall Semester: – Weekly meeting with your Instructor (schedule set by each teaching team) – Weekly Fellow cohort meetings (day/time TBD) – Monthly large-group Fellow meetings – Optional summer workshops (June–August) Note: There are no required work commitments from May–August 2026, and students are encouraged to pursue summer opportunities and experiences.

Qualifications:
Undergraduate students who are excited about teaching, mentoring, and supporting first-year students are encouraged to apply. Minimum requirements: 1. Must be an undergraduate student during the Fall 2026 semester 2. Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA at the start of the Fall 2026 (NOTE: If your current GPA is below a 2.75, please include a brief explanation in your application.)

Position Summary/Job Duties:
Weekly responsibilities include: – Preparing for and co-facilitating weekly CP125 class sessions – Reviewing student work and providing timely, supportive feedback – Holding a weekly office hour to meet with students or complete Fellow-related tasks – Actively supporting students in your section through in-person & electronic communication – Attending weekly meetings with your Instructor – Participating in weekly Fellow cohort meetings (small- and large-group)
Physical Demands:
This role involves occasional travel around campus, whether for tours of campus or field trips to various campus resources. Accommodations will be provided as needed.
