Department Overview:

The Office of Inclusion Education (OIE), a part of Student Affairs at UW-Madison, seeks to create a place where all Badgers feel like they belong. We offer a broad array of learning opportunities for students that contribute to their Wisconsin Experience.

Schedule:

The internships are for the 2026-2027 academic year. The expected paid time for related work is between 5-10 hours a week, depending on programming needs. Office hours will take place in the Office of Inclusion Education in Red Gym Suite 217.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled student in good academic standing
- Student with proven track record of social media usage and strategy, graphic design, website, and newsletter work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Desired Skills:
-Written/verbal communications skills
- Experience with social media & technology (Instagram, Facebook, etc), creating meaningful and engaging social media presence for event promotion and community building
Familiarity with creating newsletter content and using marketing automation platforms
Familiarity with video editing software and technology
Experience with desktop publishing skills (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
Portfolio with examples of designs and previous promotional materials
Excellent customer service skills
Be able to work independently with strict deadlines

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Specific Intern Responsibilities Include:
- Create new and unique designs for events, promotions, etc.
- Use creativity to create content for event and programs via graphics and social media
- Create new outreach strategies and plans for growing and expanding reach
- Attend weekly meetings with the direct supervisor and the other communications intern, and all intern gatherings (dates will be given in advance).

Physical Demands:

Movement around campus and pulling of wagon with supplies as needed.
