Department Overview:

First-Generation and Limited-Income (FGLI) Services is a central hub for connection, support, and success for students who are the first in their families to attend college or come from limited-income backgrounds. The office provides a welcoming space where students can build community, explore campus opportunities, and access resources designed specifically for first-generation and limited-income Badgers.

Schedule:

The internships are for the 2026-2027 academic year. The expected paid time for related work is between 5-10 hours a week, depending on programming needs during the academic semester.

Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications:

Currently enrolled student in good academic standing.

Understanding of and commitment to student development ideas and student engagement on college campuses.

Experience with social media & technology (Instagram, Facebook, etc.), creating meaningful and engaging social media presence for event promotion and community building.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent written/verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with creating newsletter content and using marketing automation platforms.

Experience with desktop publishing skills (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).

Portfolio with examples of designs and previous promotional materials.

Excellent customer service skills.

Be able to work independently with strict deadlines.

Familiarity with video editing software and technology.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Create new and unique designs for events, promotions, etc.

Use creativity to create content for events and programs via graphics and social media.

Create new outreach strategies and plans for growing and expanding reach.

Attend weekly meetings with the direct supervisor and the other interns, and all intern gatherings (dates will be given in advance).
