Department Overview:
The Morgridge Center for Public Service connects University of Wisconsin-Madison students, staff and faculty to local and global communities to build partnerships and solve critical issues through service and learning. The Morgridge Center was founded in 1996 with the generous support of alumni John and Tashia Morgridge. In the spirit of the Wisconsin Idea, we believe in building reciprocal relationships with our partners and strong citizens among our student population. The Morgridge Center for Public Service connects campus and community through community-based service, learning, and research to build a thriving democratic society. OEL Interns accepted into the program also have access to individualized mentorship, structured professional development workshops, and 1-on-1 career advising that will support their growth professionally and personally as they work in environments dedicated to supporting student success at UW-Madison.

Qualifications:
Must be a currently enrolled UW-Madison undergraduate student in good academic standing committed for two-semesters. Employment will require UW-Madison to verify your identity and employment eligibility. The employee must physically present original, unexpired documents (https://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/form-i-9-acceptable-documents) as evidence of identity and employment authorization.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Verbal and written communication skills, event planning and coordination experience, experience with social media and/or Canva, collaboration and team work, attention to detail, resource building
Position Summary/Job Duties:
A typical shift for a Badger Volunteers Activate Peer Advisor Intern involves: • Supporting students in finding and participating in meaningful service opportunities. • Regularly reviewing and responding to emails from students, campus partners, and community organizations. • Meeting one-on-one with students or student groups to discuss ways to engage in community-engaged work, volunteering, and civic engagement. • Organizing one-time service opportunities by coordinating with community partners and managing logistics, promote and recruit student volunteers. • Assisting with planning events such as the Public Service Fair. • Serving as a direct resource for SESP/HIPS Scholars by organizing service opportunities and advising students on how to stay involved in community service and public engagement.

The employee is frequently required to sit, use hands to finger; and reach with hands and arms.
