Department Overview:
L&S Information Technology Services (ITS) supports teaching, learning, research, and administration in the College of Letters & Science. We provide IT services to faculty, instructors, researchers, staff, and students which include user support, classroom and equipment support, endpoint management, and systems administration and engineering.

Schedule:
We anticipate 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule that will fall generally between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. Final schedule will be determined based on the selected candidate's availability.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Educational background in Information Sciences, Communication Arts, Mass Communication, or similar field is preferred but not required. The following skills and abilities are preferred: Familiarity with the UW-Madison WiscWeb platform, WordPress, or the ability to utilize existing resources to learn the platform Familiarity with image editing software Familiarity with website management or design, digital accessibility standards, or UX design Proficiency with Microsoft products
Position Summary/Job Duties:
We are seeking a student studying communications, website development, Information Sciences, or a related field who is interested in building two new websites for Letters & Science (L&S) Administration utilizing the UW-Madison WiscWeb WordPress platform. This is an opportunity for a student to work through the entire lifecycle of the website build process including meeting with stakeholders to identify requirements, gathering content, website development, testing, and go live. The result of your work will be publicly accessible websites which provide information about administrative units within the UW-Madison College of Letters & Science. This position is within L&S Information Technology Services (ITS), under our Process Strategy and Innovation unit. You will be expected to work independently and proactively with stakeholders to develop requirements and content for the websites. You’ll build both sites based on initial requirements and will work through a series of feedback loops to ensure the final product meets the needs of the unit. Your internship will conclude with a public launch of both websites targeted for L&S faculty and staff. Along the way you’ll develop organizational and project management skills, technical skills related to web site design and build, and communication skills as you work with ITS staff and others to create an important resource for our College. Previous experience is helpful but not required. We’re looking for a motivated student comfortable working independently under general supervision, and one who is excited about an opportunity to use creativity and persistence to shape the final result.
