Schedule:
Flexible. Regular weekly schedule (between 8:30 am-5:00 pm, M-F) to be determined upon hire based on student availability and operational needs. Average schedule is between 5 and 10 hours per week. Exact start date to be determined upon hire.

Qualifications:
Must be a student currently pursuing a degree at UW-Madison. The Chazen encourages undergraduate and graduate students from all backgrounds to apply. Particular consideration will be given to applicants with two or more years left in their course of study and who are considering a career in museums or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
• Background or strong interest in art, museums, or similar (previous museum experience not required) • Dependable, detail-oriented and deliberate • Shows initiative when working independently to anticipate needs and manage time • Communicates openly and clearly when working as a team; asks for help when needed • Able to track and complete concurrent tasks and projects • Comfortable speaking to groups in a friendly and approachable manner; willing to politely intervene to correct visitor behavior
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The position of Study Room Assistant supports the day-to-day operations of the Chazen’s study rooms and facilitate access to the permanent collection. Job Duties: • 65% - Pull artworks from storage in preparation for upcoming class and research visits to the study room. Install artworks in the study room. Return artworks to storage. • 15% - Prepare materials and spaces for upcoming visits, including creating checklists and labels, organizing supplies, and positioning furniture. • 10% - As assigned, welcome visitors, share guidelines, and monitor visits, ensuring artwork safety. • 5% - Track and plan logistics for upcoming visits. • 3% - Write visual descriptions of artwork in the Chazen’s collection. • 2% - Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the study rooms and Works on Paper storage room
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift and carry objects; must be able to stoop, reach, bend, etc.
