Department Overview:
The Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) is a research center in the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research at UW–Madison. WIPAC specializes in Physics and Astronomy research, with responsibility for the IceCube Neutrino Observatory at the South Pole. WIPAC also leads and participates in several other research collaborations both nationally and internationally. The Administration team provides Human Resources, Accounting, Purchasing, Travel, Events & Outreach, and Research Administration support for WIPAC.

Applicants must be current UW-Madison students
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Required • Evidence of excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management • Ability to use Microsoft Access to build a database • Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred • Experience building databases and using Microsoft Access • Office experience, including data management in Microsoft Excel • Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center seeks a student employee to assist with building a Microsoft Access database for our accounting team. Tasks will include: • reviewing setup of existing accounting system in Masterpiece • building a Microsoft Access database • working with our accountant and administrative associate director to design backend tables/relationships and forms for data entry • importing data from Microsoft Excel All majors are encouraged to apply, but this position might be a good fit for a student in Computer Sciences or Data Sciences with database experience. Continuing part-time employment in the fall may be possible depending on project progress.
