Department Overview:
UW-Madison’s Division of Extension serves the people and communities of Wisconsin by addressing local, statewide, and national issues, improving lives through research-based education, fostering partnerships, and facilitating positive impacts. Within this Division, the Health & Wellbeing Institute and the Agriculture Institute are two of six Institutes and play a key role by providing educational content and outreach statewide. At the Health & Well-Being Institute, we collaborate with communities throughout Wisconsin to create positive, sustainable change. Guided by evidence and grounded in the realities of both rural and urban life, we’re committed to helping every Wisconsinite access the resources and support they need to thrive. Together, we’re building a healthier, more resilient Wisconsin. This is a unique opportunity to support two of Extensions Institutes: the Health & Wellbeing Institute and the Agriculture Institute. In this position, you’ll gain hands-on experience in office operations, communications, and educational program support while developing valuable professional skills. The Agriculture Institute seeks a student assistant to join our team. This dynamic position will support a great team working hand-in-hand with farmers, businesses, and communities to build stronger, more diverse farm and food systems. Ideal candidates will enjoy a job with diverse responsibilities and have strong attention to detail and communication skills.

Qualifications:
Preferred experience in an administrative or office environment Preferred familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams) Preferred familiarity with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Presentations) Preferred familiarity with Zoom Employment will require a criminal background check Student must be enrolled for credit at an educational institution. Student will need to show proof of enrollment before starting

Position Summary/Job Duties:
The UW-Madison Division of Extension, Health & Well-Being Institute seeks an undergraduate student for part-time administrative work. Under the supervision of the Health & Wellbeing Institute Administrative Manager and an Agriculture Institute Program Manager, you will gain hands-on experience in office operations, communications, and educational program support while developing valuable professional skills. Undergraduate students interested in public health initiatives and supporting diverse farm and food systems will find this position especially interesting, though no prior content knowledge is required. Duties will include: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Comfortable following established procedures Good communication & customer service skills Scheduling meetings using Outlook calendars Assist with organizing files, digital and hard copy Data Entry & invoicing Assist with online program management during live sessions Familiar with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, X) Willing to learn tools like WordPress, XPS shipping software, Canvas LMS, etc. Availability during student recess is a plus, but not required Other administrative duties as assigned
Physical Demands:
Ability to use a computer for 3+ hours at a time Ability to lift and carry boxes up to 25lbs
