Department Overview:

 CEETE (https://ceete.engr.wisc.edu/) supports the college of Engineering through instructional support, technology, and other learning resources in multi-use, active learning classrooms in Wendt Commons. These spaces feature collaborative layouts, advanced AV, and individual computers for each student. Teachers in this space use a variety of active and blended learning approaches to teaching. Schedule:

 M – F between 7:30am and 6:00pm around PA course schedule. Some evening hours for midterm and final exams are possible, depending on PA course schedule. Scheduling will be flexible and inclusive.
This is an on-site campus position. Classroom and instructional support will be conducted at Wendt Commons. Staff will have hoteling space in Wendt Commons and there will be tasks conducted in the classrooms.

Qualifications:

 Required Qualification:
Graduate student status for AY26-27 All discipline and degree programs accepted.

Preferred Qualification:
Study/interest in education or related field: or engineering or engineering education.
Experience providing customer service, AV and/or desktop support in computer lab or similar space.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Interest in pursuing teaching in your field as future faculty, or TA
Knowledge of active or blended learning in higher education classrooms -- specific skills will be trained on the job
Knowledge of AV and computer equipment and operation -- specific skills will be trained on the job
Ability to adapt to changing classroom and work environments
Commitment to providing a high level of customer service
Strong communication skills and ability to take initiative in resolving user issues
Proven ability to work independently and follow written/oral directions

This PA will be responsible for many day-to-day operational activities to support the active learning environments and support the Active Learning Classroom Program and CEETE Team. A successful applicant will have an interest in teaching and learning, active teaching, and program development

Position Summary/Job Duties:

CEETE is seeking a graduate student to join our team as a Project Assistant to assist with coordinating and delivering active learning instructional services, resources, and on-site instructional support. This position will give a graduate student interested in becoming future teaching faculty the opportunity to learn more about innovations in teaching and learning as well as active and blended instructional approaches in higher education classrooms. Depending on interest, this person may develop a future facing project aimed at enhancing the Active Learning Classroom Program or improving CEETE services.
The Project Assistant will:
Serve as daily on-site staff for instructional support and classroom logistics.
Provide on-demand, “just-in-time,” instructional assistance to instructors (i.e., active learning and student-centered approaches, formative assessment, and instructional technology support).
Coordinate with instructors, troubleshoot requests, and communicate needs to CEETE staff and student staff, as appropriate.
Establish and maintain a responsive on-site customer service environment and communication (email correspondence and in-person).
Respond to scheduling requests for events and course-related activities in Wendt Commons rooms.
Support exam administration, including managing digital exam security software, instructor support, and day-of-exam on-site assistance.
Evaluate which support processes will best fit the needs of the College of Engineering.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

May need to lift or push up to 25 lbs, travel between Engineering campus buildings. Negotiable qualification, accommodations for physical demands can be provided.
