Department Overview:

The Division of Facilities Planning & Management (FP&M) is a full-spectrum service organization that builds, maintains, and operates the physical environment of the UW-Madison campus in support of the university’s education, research, and outreach activities.

FP&M works behind the scenes to coordinate campus planning, manage design and construction, maintain and operate buildings and grounds, supply utility services, ensure health and safety, and provide parking and transportation services.

Schedule:

Expected during normal business hours - 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Specific work hours may vary.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
• Candidates should be available to work in Madison throughout Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. Some remote work is available after successful onboarding.
• 8-15 hour time commitment per week during the academic year. Summer and school break availability preferred.
• Experience or coursework related to Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Psychology, Communications, Data Analytics, Education, or related fields.
• Experience or coursework related to survey design, research methods, data analysis, or project management preferred.
• Familiarity with Qualtrics, Tableau, Workday, or similar reporting and survey tools preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience effectively interacting with people from different backgrounds, including aspects of human diversity such as socioeconomic status, culture, ethnicity, race, national origin, religion, age, gender, disability, and sexual orientation

• Curiosity, willingness to ask questions, and openness to coaching.
• Learning mindset; adaptable to new systems, technologies, and processes.
• High degree of self-direction, initiative, attention to detail, and motivation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The Training and Employee Development Student Assistant supports organizational learning, employee development, and workforce engagement initiatives across the FP&M division. This role assists with talent development projects, training system transitions, survey administration, data analysis, communications, and process improvement efforts designed to enhance employee learning and development experiences.
