Department Overview:

The Wisconsin School of Business Multicultural Center is a newly created center and we are looking for people who are willing to go above and beyond as an intern on the team. The center is located at 2250 of Grainger Hall on the second floor overlooking the courtyard. The Multicultural Center supports students from historically underrepresented backgrounds to center their voices and promote cultural change to build an inclusive community where all students can thrive. Anticipated Start Date:

8/26/2024 training week begins. 9/4/2024 projects/front desk hours begin

Anticipated End Date (If Applicable):

5/09/2025 (Summer hours maybe available)

Schedule:

All work will be conducted on-site and will consist of working the front desk. This position does come with some office hours and those maybe done in the center or off-site if approved by supervisor. As most programs and events vary based on intern and coordinator availability some hours will be scheduled in the evening.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$15.00

Qualifications:

Have and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5
Understand Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices

Effective writing and communication skills
Attention to detail, well organized
Punctuality, reliable attendance, and flexibility
Highly motivated to learn about services and resources in the Wisconsin School of Business

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Understand multiculturalism diversity on campus
Be able to work well on a team for large scale projects
Ability to work independently for position-specific duties
Understand event planning and assessment processes
Provide creativity for the programming and events area
Ability to speak with others about programs and events whether publicly or informally.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Help in the staffing of the Multicultural Center Front Desk.
Create large-scale and small-scale programs around professional development such as, career exploration, majors, internshipreadiness and others.
Create large-scale and smaller-scale programs such as panels, workshops, and community events around cultural awareness,celebrations, and exploration.
Provide logistical support and planning for events, such as ordering catered meals and managing food delivery and set-up.
Provide insight on current trends and programs that would meet the needs of various multicultural students and intersectionalityprogramming.
Research national and international cultural holidays and national history and heritage months.
Work on the programming team with the other programming interns to create events.
Assist in the development of a programming calendar for the center.
Assist the other interns on the vision of event marketing materials.
Lead and attend a majority of center events.

Physical Demands:

You maybe asked to wipe down tables on a timely manner as well as move furniture around for event reservations or other needs.
