20 to 30 hours per week throughout the whole summer.

Qualifications:

Have a valid driver's license (> 2 years) and be willing to drive a university vehicle to field stations by yourself;

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Interested in learning soil sampling and lab analysis;

Interested in learning precision agriculture techniques such as thermal camera imaging collection and computer analysis;

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The lab assistant will work with other members of the Soil Sensing and Monitoring Lab (https://soilsensingmonitoring.soils.wisc.edu/) and assist in field soil sampling, soil sensor data collection (https://soilsensingmonitoring.soils.wisc.edu/welcome/) and computer analysis, and laboratory analysis of soil samples.

Physical Demands:

The lab assistant will need to take soil samples using augers (https://ecals.cals.wisc.edu/2023/09/08/bucky-soil-auger-competition-to-be-held-sept-15/).
