Department Overview:

The Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) is one of seven federally supported National Primate Research Centers and the only one in the Midwest. The WNPRC's mission is to increase the understanding of basic primate biology and to improve human health and quality of life through research. To accomplish this, the WNPRC helps discover treatments, preventions, and cures for human disease; generates new knowledge of primate biology, from the molecular and whole animal levels to the understanding of primate ecosystems; facilitates research progress by providing expertise, resources and training to scientists worldwide; and collects primate information and disseminates to the research community and to the public.

Qualifications:

> Students with interest in learning Human Resources operations are welcome and encouraged to apply.
> Students currently pursing a degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or prior HR experience) are especially encouraged to apply.
> Any type of previous customer service experience is a plus.
> Experience handling confidential, sensitive or Personal Identifiable Information (PII) is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

> Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
> Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with a variety of customers in a professional environment.
> Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
> Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
> Ability to prioritize workload, managing multiple projects and deadlines effectively and independently following through on tasks.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

> Assist with general HR administrative tasks, including managing the HR email and mail inboxes, scanning and printing documents, and electronically filing documents.
> Help maintain and update employee records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
> Assist with onboarding undergraduate new hires (Student Hourly), ensuring a smooth and positive start to their employment.
> Participate in HR projects and initiatives, as assigned.
> Conduct research, data analysis and prepare reports on HR-related topics.
> Assist with provision of general HR office customer services.

Physical Demands:

Office environment. Use computer workstation and office equipment.
Occasional light lifting of records or equipment.
