Department Overview:

This laboratory is within the Department of Surgical Sciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine.

Schedule:

Over the summer a student is expected to work 32-40 hours over normal business hours (8am-4pm).

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$12.50-$13.00

Qualifications:

Students should have a background in statistics and computation, particularly in the R environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A solid background in computer science, statistics or computational biology is preferred.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Duties will include basic bioinformatics analysis of SNP genotype data and next generation sequencing data. Students will train with a bioinformatics scientist and assist with data analysis. Involvement in genomic prediction of client owned animals for disease of interest and associated programming assistance is a possibility.

Physical Demands:

This job may require some physical demands associated with working with client owned animals. However, computer based work is less demanding and roles that only require desk and computer work will be considered if needed.
