Department Overview:

Our philosophy at Kind and Joyful Childcare is to provide each child with a loving, caring and nurturing atmosphere through daily activities that will challenge them socially, physically, mentally and emotionally. There will be a Christian component to our program, such as mealtime prayers or songs, stories, and displays of the Christian aspects of holidays. We will lead by example by modeling Christian morals and values to the children while encouraging exploration, creativity and curiosity. Positive reinforcement will be used when children need guidance and your child’s teacher will focus on your child as an individual; finding ways to provide them what they need. Each child who enters our doors is exposed to vital life skills to create a healthy foundation in all aspects of life.

Schedule:

In the summer, hours will vary from 7am-5:30 pm Mon-Fri.  Once the school year starts, the position will be full time from 8:30-am-5:30pm.

If you are a student still, we do have part time hours available; 1-5:30 Mondays and 2-5:30 Tues-Fri with school agers in our after school program.  

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $16.50 to $19.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

**This position can start as soon as May, but must start by the beginning of August**

We are looking for a qualified educator to prepare small children for kindergarten by easing them into organized education. You will support the lead teacher of our 4K classroom of 13-18 children important elements which they will encounter soon after they enter school life. A 4K teacher must have a great love and patience for children. Qualifications needed to teach them effectively include knowledge of best practices and preschool educational methods as well as the ability to engage them and earn their trust and attention. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in implementing the curriculum
  • Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to educate children
  • Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
  • Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments, guiding through these resolutions as needed
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
  • Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
  • Communicate with parents in person at drop off/pick up times as well as through the Brightwheel App.
  • Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
  • Collaborate with other educators
  • Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards

Qualifications:

Must have completed two college courses in education or psychology and apply for a registry certificate.

  • Proven experience as a Teacher
  • Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and 4K educational methods
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
  • Excellent communication and instructional skills
  • Ability to act as mediator between children
  • Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
  • Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
  • Certification in child CPR within 3 months
  • Prefer Bachelor's or Associate's in Education or relevant field
  • Comfortable educating children in a Christian way

Physical Demands

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and physically meet the needs of the kids in your classroom.
