Hours would be 9:30-1:30, though it can vary slightly based on your availability.

Additional hours are available in the summer months if interested.

Hourly $15.00 to $16.50

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Kind and Joyful Childcare is a small business in EDUCATION in Madison, WI. We are professional, agile, professional and our goal is to provide a variety of nutritious meals to young children. We make all of our meals homemade and are looking for someone to assist our cook part time with dishes, meal prep and possibly cooking. This position is Mon-Fri, ideally 9:30am-1:30pm though we have a little flexibility with the time and could adjust slightly based on your availability.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in meal preparation and food service in a fast-paced kitchen environment

- Follow directions given by lead cook.

- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met during food preparation and storage

- Help with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen area

- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications:

Must be 18 years old and have a desire to learn to be more efficient in the kitchen.  

Must be reliable

Experience:

- Previous experience in the food industry or a culinary background is preferred but not required

- Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment

- Familiarity with food safety guidelines and procedures

- Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Skills:

- Food service: Experience in serving food to customers or assisting in food service operations

- Help: Willingness to assist the kitchen staff with various tasks as needed

- Food industry: Understanding of the operations and standards within the food industry

- Meal preparation: Ability to assist in preparing meals according to recipes and instructions

- Culinary: Basic knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles

- Food safety: Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices

- Cook: Basic cooking skills, including knife handling, sautéing, grilling, etc.

- Food preparation: Ability to assist in preparing ingredients, measuring portions, etc.

- Kitchen: Familiarity with kitchen equipment, utensils, and appliances

- Knife: Proficiency in using knives for chopping, slicing, dicing, etc.

Physical Demands

Lift 40 pounds, walk up and down stairs
