Department Overview:
The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members and visitors through shared cultural, social and recreational events and experiences.

Position Summary/Job Duties:
In this year-round, Madison-based role, you will:
Assist in monitoring and managing the Wisconsin Union’s Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, and Snapchat accounts (accounts subject to change)
Curate (writing, filming, photographing, designing) and schedule social media content
Gather and analyze social media data to make recommendations
Work with communications specialist to brainstorm and implement social media campaigns
**Please note that this is a year-round position based in Madison, WI. For content creation needs, this position will require the ability to report in-person, including during the summer (AKA Terrace season, one of the busiest times of the year for the Wisconsin Union!). This position requires regular availability during business hours on business days and the flexibility to adjust work scheduling, as needed, to cover events and other social media needs.
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends
Visual eye for creating photo and short-form video content
Strong writing and analytical skills
Great attention to detail
Enjoys collecting and reviewing data
Excellent customer service and organizational skills
Openness to being in photography and videography for social media coverage
Knowledge of Google Drive
Ability to work in-person at Memorial Union in Madison, WI (work will, at times, require travel to other Wisconsin Union locations in downtown Madison
Prior Experience:
Experience managing social accounts and scheduling using Sprout Social is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge of Canva and Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator) is a plus, but not required.
Student Status:
To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
