Schedule:

  • Academic Year: 10-15 hours per week, shifts may vary.
  • Summer: Up to 40 hours per week.
  • Summer hours available based on operational need.
  • Seasonal: This position is considered seasonal during the summer months and is exempt from the 30 hour per week average rule in regards to the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Hours worked may exceed 30 hours/week during the summer months.

Salary/Wage Range:

Hourly $16.00 to $16.00

Position Summary/Job Duties:

  • Assist with gathering nutrition and allergy related information on purchased products.
  • Update food and nutrition related databases.
  • Assist in operation related activities.
  • Update and maintain the CBORD and Nutrislice nutritional database to ensure accuracy. 
  • Contact manufacturers in order to identify items that contain allergens or conform to dietary preferences and/or religious restrictions; correctly mark ingredients with allergen traits in CBORD.
  • Assist the Dietitian with outreach and educational sessions.
  • Work within the dining units as needed to gain a full understanding of daily operations.
  • Assist Leadership staff as needed.
  • Communicate with students and summer conference guests regarding allergies and assist with special menu development as needed.
  • Assist with menu rotations, preparation of menus, and coding new recipes in CBORD.
  • Assist in planning portion sizes for summer meal service.
  • Periodically attend menu planning meetings to ensure that recipes are properly identified and are able to be prepared as vegetarian, vegan, and halal.
  • Review Nutrislice for accuracy meal service.
  • Give tours of the dining units to incoming students and summer guests as needed and introduce them to the tools that Housing Dining offers that meet their requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Be able to work several blocks of time during the school year, at least 2-3 hours in length.
  • Preference will be given to students working toward a degree in Dietetics or Food Service Administration who have taken or are taking basic food service and nutrition classes.
