Position Summary/Job Duties:

This position includes many responsibilities, with the primary goal of supporting teens and staff while creating a memorable and meaningful camp experience.

Assistant Camp Director Qualities:

  • Experience working with children, teens, or young adults – specifically individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to make decisions and adjust plans on the go.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic, Organized, Responsible, Dependable, Flexible, Calm, and Consistent.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands-on support to direct care staff and teens.
  • Support teens with activities of daily living including meals/snacks, changing clothes, and bathroom routines.
  • Assist with check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Develop positive relationships with teen participants and communicate with parents or guardians at pick-up and drop-off times.
  • Assist Camp Director with oversight of daily camp schedule and activities.
  • Assist with medication administration for teens as needed
  • Lead on-site activities
  • Work with Camp Director to ensure that all documents, program materials, and equipment are accounted for and securely stored.
  • Maintain confidentiality of teens and staff
  • Maintain clear and open communication with Inclusion Facilitators, parents, and UCP office staff.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Hours are approximately 8:00am -5:00pm Monday-Friday from June 16- August 15, 2025. Pre-camp prep work and additional training will be available starting in May. No camp on June 19 and July 4. The Assistant Camp Director should plan for a daily break lasting 1 hour, planned when least disruptive to the daily schedule (not during high traffic/sign-in and out times). Overtime should be pre-approved.

Transportation

A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, liability coverage and a personal vehicle are preferred for this position. This position may provide incidental transportation for clients to and from activities so responsible driving is a must.
