Schedule:

General office hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 to 5:00. Early morning and evening work outside of these times will be required based upon project needs. (Overtime pay at time-and-a-half will be provided for weekly hours beyond 40 per week.)

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Soils & Engineering Services, Inc., a locally-owned Madison, Wisconsin-based geotechnical engineering firm, is seeking to add a summer Field Technician to our team. We are a small-sized company that works on large-scale projects. Our student technicians are able to build upon their classroom knowledge by working on active construction sites observing construction activities and collecting data, collecting samples, and supporting our drilling crews with sampling tasks.

Responsibilities may include:

·      Observing and documenting field activities

·      Obtaining samples for laboratory analyses

·      Logging soils during geotechnical drilling operations

Necessary training and certification is provided by the company.

The majority of this work is performed outdoors. Early morning, evening and out-of-town overnight work may be needed based upon project needs.

Qualifications:

Sophomore or higher standing. All majors will be considered, with a preferred major in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology or other STEM-related field. Valid drivers license is required.
