Position Summary/Job Duties:
Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in graphic design while contributing to groundbreaking work in the regenerative medicine and life sciences fields? WiCell is seeking a Graphic Design Intern. This position offers flexible schedules, an opportunity to build your portfolio, and the ability to network and collaborate with WiCell staff. If you’re a creative designer with strong technical skills and a passion for clearly communicating complex scientific ideas visually, this role will give you the chance to grow and refine your design skills across diverse projects including print and digital materials to promote WiCell products, services, and events, developing engaging graphics for social media aligned with marketing campaigns, and supporting other communications activities as needed (such as press releases, email marketing, and event materials).
We are looking to hire a Graphic Design Intern to start during the summer and continue working through the upcoming fall and spring semesters. We expect this intern to work approximately 8-15 hours per week during the school year with opportunities for additional hours during summer and school breaks. WiCell provides parking and/or will supply a bus pass if needed.
WiCell is located at 504 S. Rosa Road in Research Park on the west side of Madison. This is a hybrid position that will require work on-site in our offices with the option to work remotely as needed for scheduling.
Starting hourly pay is $15 per hour.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will be working toward an associate or bachelor’s degree. Candidates pursuing a degree in graphic design, fine arts, visual communications, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Candidates should possess a strong ability to communicate complex or technical ideas clearly in visually compelling ways, have excellent organizational and critical thinking skills, maintain confidentiality, and be able to multitask. Demonstrated experience with industry-standard design tools (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Figma, etc.) is required. Experience with file preparation for print production, video editing, or animation is desired but not required. The position may require lifting boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
