Position Summary/Job Duties:

Location: Middleton, WI (In-home care; must have own

We are a local family seeking a kind, patient, and dependable student to provide in-home respite care for our 5½-year-old son, Luke, who is on the autism spectrum. Luke is bright, independent, and playful. He enjoys Legos, sensory toys, science experiments, and learning to ride his bike.

Your role will focus on engaging Luke in fun, developmentally supportive play while gently coaching him through emotional regulation and transitions. Care will be provided in our Middleton home. Luke’s siblings may be present with a nanny, but your attention will be solely on Luke.

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one care for Luke in a calm, supportive environment

• Engage him in preferred activities (Legos, sensory play, science, outdoor time)

• Support emotional self-regulation and communication

• Ensure a safe, structured, and positive experience

• Collaborate with parents on daily transitions and progress

Qualifications:

• Experience with children (especially those with autism or other developmental differences) is a plus

• Must be reliable, patient, and nurturing

• Strong communication skills

• Must have your own transportation—our home is not accessible by public transit

• Background in child development, education, psychology, special education, or related fields is a bonus

To Apply:

Please send an email with your name, a brief description of your experience with children, your general availability, and why you’re interested in the position. We look forward to hearing from you!
