The Wisconsin Union, often referred to as "the heart and soul" of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has enhanced the lives of members and visitors since it was founded in 1907. Since 1928, when the doors to Memorial Union opened, the Wisconsin Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus. The Union connects students, faculty, staff, members, and visitors through shared cultural, social, and recreational events and experiences.

• Minimum Hour Expectation

  6 scheduled hours minimum. 18 scheduled hours maximum.

  If scheduled less than 12 hours per week, Badger Bash shifts will be additional shifts. If scheduled 12 or more hours per week, Badger Bash shifts will replace a regularly-scheduled shift, unless requested otherwise.

  Ginger Root: Monday-Thursday 11a-7p, Friday 11a-5p

  Cantina: Monday-Thursday 11a-4p, Friday 11a-3p

  Naan Stop South: Monday-Friday 11a-2p

  Daily Scoop: Monday-Thursday 11a-7p, Friday 11a-5p

Shifts are required outside of regularly-scheduled shifts on the following dates (subject to change) for Badger Bashes: Aug. 28th (Thurs), Sept. 6th (Sat), Sept. 20th (Sat), Oct. 11th (Sat), Oct. 18th (Sat), Nov. 8th (Sat), Nov. 22nd (Sat).

• Unit Location

  Union South Kiosks include: Ginger Root, Cantina, Harvest Grains, and Daily Scoop. All are located in Union South.

• Each role will have an aspect of cashiering and general customer service
• Handling, cooking and preparing food, including meat*
• Assisting with food and beverage service, including serving alcohol*
• Maintaining a clean work environment

• Punctual and reliable
• Ability to work in a team
• Prior food experience helpful, not required
• Requires standing for long periods of time

Student Status

To be eligible for the Wisconsin Union positions, you must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or highschool (at least 16). It is not permissible to hire a person as a student hourly employee if they are taking credits merely to be eligible for student hourly employment. Review UW Policy 5003- Student Hourly Employment for more information. If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.
