Department Overview:

Childhood Development Through Sports! Playpen Sports Academy is a wonderful way to introduce your child to the world of sport and physical activity in a non-intimidating environment with a small group of other toddlers and parents. The Playpen Sports Academy Curriculum is focused on a number of different goals including teaching children how to move and use their bodies, sharing with other children, interact in social settings, follow directions, and most importantly how to have fun in a physically active environment. ​ At Playpen Sports Academy, we are focused as much on the individual development of your child as we are on sport specific skills that we teach. Because while we expect some of your children to go on to be great athletes, we expect all of your children to go on to be great people!

Specific Hours Needed: Saturdays 8:40am to 12:15pm and Mondays 4:45pm to 7:15pm for the current fall season (October-November) and indoor winter season running January-March.

Job Title: Toddler Sports Coach [Ages 2-5]

Compensation: $17-21/hr ($17/HR Guaranteed for all coaches PLUS up to $4/hour in commission/bonus opportunities based on performance as well!)

About Us: Playpen Sports Academy is a young and fast-growing organization founded in Chicago, IL. Focused on improving the quality of early childhood development programs based on sport, we offer soccer, baseball, golf, and basketball classes for toddlers ages 2-5 years old.

Job Description: As a toddler sports coach, your primary job is to facilitate a fun, energetic, and structured environment for toddlers to learn how to use their bodies and work with others.

The goal of our various sports classes is to provide social, emotional, and motor development opportunities through the use of fun, non-competitive games and activities centered around the respective sport (baseball or soccer).

Job Duties

  • Class set-up and preparation.
  • Lead various 45-minute sessions with energypositivity, and inclusiveness.
  • Make sure toddlers and parents understand the different games and activities.
  • Help parents work with their children in a manner that makes the toddler feel comfortable with the game or activity at hand.
  • Provide positive feedback, coaching tips, and words of encouragement to not only the toddlers but parents as well.
  • Attend community events & assist in administrative tasks when necessary (additional pay)

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable leading a group of kids (max 8 at at time) (curriculum/class guides provided to you beforehand)
  • Must be reliable and clearly communicate availability. Each program is only 6 weeks long so we like to try and have the same coach at least 5/6 weeks for the kids.
  • Must have a general understanding of how to communicate with toddlers (helping re-engage, making things silly, being creative, getting on their level, offering choices, patience, and positivity)
  • MUST BE AN ENERGETIC AND ENTHUSIASTIC INDIVIDUAL!!
  • At least a high school junior or older
  • Some sort of athletic background - preferably high school or collegiate athletics.
  • Availability Saturday mornings and two weeknights (depending on location).
  • Work patiently with children as young as 24-months to 5 Years (Parents help for under 4)
  • Some sort of local transportation.
  • Enjoy having fun!

No coaching experience is required - Training is provided!

Salary: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 5-6-hour shift
  • Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

  • Bonus pay
