Position Summary/Job Duties: | We’re a warm, friendly family on Madison’s near east side looking for a reliable, engaged weekend babysitter for a consistent 4 hours each week, primarily on Saturday or Sunday.
This role is a great fit for someone who is genuinely looking for a steady, ongoing commitment and values building trust and familiarity with a family over time.
Schedule
- Approximately 4 hours every weekend
- Most often late afternoon, with occasional variation. Flexibility on specific hours can be discussed.
- We communicate clearly in advance and plan together week by week
- Consistency matters to us — this position is best for someone who wants weekend hours on a regular basis
About our kids & home
- Experience with toddlers is required; experience with early elementary is preferred
- We value a calm, positive environment that supports independence, curiosity, and connection
- Our parenting style is influenced by Montessori principles — observing, supporting, and following the child’s lead rather than directing every moment (If Montessori or child-led care excites you, you’ll likely feel very at home here.)
- We are a mostly screen-free household
- TV and tablets are not typically used during babysitting time
- Phones are generally used only for necessities (such as music)
- This is a hands-on, engaged role for someone who enjoys being fully present with kids
- We have a very friendly Goldendoodle, so comfort with dogs is important
Medical & safety needs
- Comfort learning food allergy and asthma management
- Willingness to learn emergency protocols and rescue medication administration
- This role requires someone who is detail-oriented and attentive, as it involves remembering specific food restrictions, allergy-related guidelines, and safety protocols
- All training will be provided by parents, with clear written instructions and ongoing support. No prior experience managing these medications is required.
Who tends to be a great fit?
